Safety Information


There have been reports of fatal cases of pancreatitis with use of Videx.  Contact a healthcare professional immediately if you develop the following symptoms: nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.

Videx and drugs like it have been linked to severe liver problems, including lactic acidosis.  If you experience nausea, vomiting, unusual stomach discomfort, weakness, tiredness, shortness of breath and yellowing of the skin or eyes then contact a doctor right away, as these may be symptoms of early liver problems.

Do not drink alcohol while on Videx as it could increase the risk of damage to the liver or pancreas.

Videx Side Effects


Check with your doctor right away if you develop any of the following side effects:

Less common

  • Nausea and Vomiting
  • Stomach pain
  • Numbness, tingling, burning
  • Pain in the hands or feet

Rare

  • Seizures
  • Fever, Chills
  • Shortness of breath
  • Swelling of feet or legs
  • Sore throat
  • Skin rash and itching
  • Unusual bruising or bleeding
  • Tiredness, weakness
  • Yellow skin or eyes

Continue to take Videx and talk with your doctor if any of the following less serious side effects occur but are bothersome:

  • Anxiety, difficulty sleeping
  • Diarrhea
  • Headache
  • Dryness of the mouth
  • Irritability, restlessness

Videx Contraindications


Before taking Videx, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following drugs:

  • Tetracycline
  • Doxyccline or Minocycline
  • Ciprofloxacin, Levofloxacin, enoxacin, gatifloxacin
  • Lovofloxacin, lomefloxacin, moxifloxacin, ofloxacin sparfloxacin
  • Trovafloxacin, norfloxacin
  • Indinavir
  • Delavirdine
  • Nelfinavir
  • Ritonavir, tenofovir
  • Ketoconazole, itraconazole
  • Ribavirin
